Osteoporosis   Each patient receives an individualized consultation with a complete discussion of bone density results at the conclusion of their testing.  Dr. Porges or Brancato will review the results of the test, and make individual treatment recommendations.  Complete reports are sent to the primary care physician.   The practice uses a Lunar DPX bone densitometer.  This machine has several unique advantages over older technologies.  First, it is more comfortable than other machines, with a padded examination table.  Secondly, to improve accuracy, the test will measure 4 lumbar vertebral bodies and both hips.  Finally, if a previous bone density is available for comparison, the staff will place older bone density results in the computer, so that a precise analysis of the changes can be made.   We believe that our knowledge, experience and individual attention to each patient improves the results of bone density testing and leads to better treatment recommendations.
